Kipchoge’s INEOS 1.59 challenge : Get free Safcom YouTube bundle

To celebrate Eliud Kipchoge’s INEOS 1.59 challenge, Safaricom will be giving you a free You Tube bundle on Saturday.

This will allow you to watch the challenge live from Vienna, Austria from 8am -4pm on Saturday, 12th October, on your smartphone.

Now, all you have to do is dial *159# (Remember Kipchoge is attempting to be the first man to run a full 42-kilometer Marathon under 2 hours) to access the bundle.

In a statement announcing the offer, Safaricom said that it will also be dishing out free SMS bundles to its subscribers as part of their promotional activities to celebrate the athlete.

That means that you won’t be charged a penny to chat with your friends on Saturday as long as you’re using the special *159#  bundle.

In addition, Safaricom invites you to send a text message supporting Eliud to SMS number 159 during the race.

If you do so, you might have your message displayed live on various TV broadcast feeds.

Remember that all you have to do is dial *159#  to be subscribed to the bumper free bundle.

Safaricom is also celebrating Eliud’s INEOS 1.59 challenge in other ways over the next one week.

For example, the M-Pesa logo has been rebranded ‘Eliud 1:59’ to honor the challenge and the legendary athlete.

Kipchoge has had a long running partnership with Safaricom dating back to 2017 at the time the Telco launched its famous ‘Twaweza’ brand campaign.

Kipchoge previously attempted to go under the 2 hours barrier in 2017 under the Breaking2 Project but narrowly missed finishing the race in 2:00:25.

Kipchoge already holds the Marathon world record of ran 2:01:39, which he ran 2:01:39 in Berlin last year.

The  INEOS 1.59 challenge doesn’t however qualify to be ranked by IAAF for the World marathon record because of its special conditions including the use of technology and deployment of world class pace setters.
