Now, to cancel your SGR ticket, you have two options.
- Visit your most convenient SGR terminus and request for the cancellation over the counter
- Cancel your SGR ticket online

How to cancel SGR ticket via the counter
Here you just need to contact your nearest SGR terminus offices with your original identification document, either your ID card or Kenya passport.
SGR staff is very welcoming and the transaction is complete within a few minutes.
The funds are typically refunded through the method you had paid through.
This means you will receive your cash via MPESA if you had booked SGR using SGR paybill, in cash, bank, or even credit/debit card, if that’s the mode you used.
How to cancel SGR ticket online
SGR has added a module that allows you to cancel SGR ticket online and it’s not a must that you travel to a passenger service station for cancellation or change your travel itinerary.
The system came into use starting June 1, 2019 and it works as follows:
- You will need to login into the SGR tickets portal here
- You then type your booking number and the mobile number you had used to make the booking.
- Now tap on the search button.
- Finally, choose cancel/reschedule once the system displays the ticket details.
You will be prompted to confirm the cancellation for the transaction to go through.
What to know about cancelling your SGR ticket
Yes, but you have to place your request to cancel your SGR tickets booking at least 48 hours ahead of your schedule departure and 72 hours for groups.
The refund will, however, be subjected to a 30% deduction.
In addition, your tickets must still be in good condition (if you had already printed them) to qualify for a refund, if you are doing it over the counter.
